Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has been accused of rape

American boyband Backstreet Boys were set to debut a holiday special on 14 December followed by an encore on 20 December on ABC. Those plans have now been nixed according to the network. ABC execs reportedly nixed the plans following the revelations made by a woman who claims Nick Carter sexually assaulted her 21 years ago while she was underage.

The allegation was made by Shannon “Shay” Ruth, now 39, who says she was sexually assaulted by Carter 21 years ago following a concert in Tacoma Washington a very small town in the Pacific Northwest.

Deadline reports:

A Very Backstreet Holiday was supposed to feature Carter, along with bandmates AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough, performing smash hit tunes from their 10th studio album, A Very Backstreet Christmas, per Variety.
