In a win for literally what’s right, Australia has reversed recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

But the fight is only raging on. According to the Australian government, government officials have reversed a previous government’s acknowledgement of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Their reported reasoning for such is understood to be the long-running dispute between the Israelis and the Palestinians. The centre-left party has since agreed to recognize Tel Aviv as the capital rather than Jerusalem.

Jerusalem’s status must be resolved in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, Foreign Minister Penny Wong said during the announcement this week. The change was initially made in 2018 after then-President Trump over in America moved the U.S embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to much controversy also at that time.
