King Charles will not be coronated until May 6th according to Buckingham Palace

Formal details for the coronation of King Charles III have finally been announced. According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles III is set to be coronated officially on 6 May in a slimmed-down spectacle compared to that of his mother’s 1953 Coronation which helped Britain draw eyeballs from around the world. Very few details were actually released beyond the date, though, the guest list is expected to be capped at about 2,000 people instead of the typical 8,000.

Some have argued that a slimmed Coronation risks ruining a perfect opportunity to help Britain bounce back from a cost-of-living crisis and a tough pandemic. Tourism particularly may end up being affected as the Coronation and the pomp surrounding it generally helps eyeballs from around the world stay steady on Britain.

“The coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry,’’ the palace said in a statement released to the media this week.
