Former Uber security chief found guilty of trying to conceal the massive hack that rocked the ride-sharing company

A remarkable end to a troubled company and a sleazy executive who tried to conceal from the public the extent of one of the worst data hacks in recent memory.

The company’s former security chief Joe Sullivan has been found guilty as charged in connection to claims that he looked the other way, to keep his reputation, following the hack that led to the publishing of information online a few years ago. That information amounted to user profile info for more than 57m Uber customers.

As reported by the New York Times and Washington Post, the jury tried and convicted Sullivan on two counts: one for obstructing justice by not revealing the breach to the FTC and another for misprision, concealing a felony from the authorities.
