New reports out this weekend show that American streaming service Netflix.com in fact is retaliating against its own people for leaking information about Dave Chappelle. Published reports out Friday evening show that the employee who leaked that Dave was paid $24m for his special has since been terminated.
Netflix ‘s co-ceo Reed Hastings has denied claims that the special is in anyway transphobic but did acknowledge the concerns of many of the viewers. In the same breath, Hastings and Netflix are arguing that they’re on the right side of history by airing the special in question (we have not yet seen it and likely have no interest in doing so so our commentary is limited here.)
Another report shows that Netflix has been fairly all-around-type-dismissive over the claims entirely. They appear to be prepared to keep Dave ‘s special and their relationship with him full steam ahead.
