Yelp launches racist business flag, social media erupts

A controversial new move by US based Yelp.com has several sections of social media up in arms over their new feature. As discovered over the weekend, Yelp launched what they’re calling a “racist alert button” for businesses. As you could probably guess, er, that button will be placed on business listings that are accused even just once of racism.

It looks a little something like this…

While on the surface it seems like a brilliant idea, I’d be lying if I didn’t point out how bad this could possibly go for some (especially those who are super woke and will at times shout racism when it in fact isn’t quite that.)

The tool apparently is part of Yelp ‘s renewed efforts to take part in addressing racism whether systematic or in everyday life.
