Hollywood appears to be poised to go on strike

TV shows and movies may temporarily halt amid reports that writers across Hollywood are set to go on strike. According to the Writers Guild of America, more than 97% of votes in the measure approved the idea of going on a strike if required. Contract negotiations between writers and major studios are ongoing.

The Writers Guild is billing negotiations this time around with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) as means to get better pay for thousands of talented writers serving up the content that makes T.V go around.

WGA is pushing for some pretty standard conditions. These include better pay that accounts for the soaring cost of living and inflation; increases to pension and healthcare contributions, and numerous other demands.
