As containment becomes impossible, South Africa announces it will cease following guidelines and isolation rules with exceptions

Omicron is sweeping much of the world as of this writing and is showing no signs of slowing down so far (except for a few here and there but nothing of certainty.) According to South African government officials, guidelines for the Coronavirus including those to do with isolation will no longer be followed effective immediately. This is understood to be because of the fact that it is too late to contain the Coronavirus.

These new changes appear to apply to asymptomatic people. Those understood to be with mild or severe cases are asked to remain in isolation for 8 to 10 working days while routine testing and tracing is completed. This comes as the rest of the world b attles the Omicron variant with the number of deaths now rising in America along with the general caseload.

Despite the news, hospitalisation admissions are down about 400 across South Africa. Health officials say that in SA there are reportedly about 50 deaths a death from the Omicron variant.
