In sophisticated efforts, hackers may be trying to steal the COVID-19 vaccine and its information

Because keeping it totally honest here — the COVID-19 vaccine right now even mysterious is quite literally liquid gold. According to IBM and its partners, some of the hacks were initially found back in September through sophisticated network entry attempts. Some of those attempts included attaching fake order forms to e-mail chains sent to executives which in turn contained malware.

The BBC reports that the hacks appear to be efforts to find information about the refridgeration process; where the vaccines are being kept, how it has to be stored, and particuarly delivery schedules throughout much of the modern world. Those pieces of information are believed to be under heavily armed guard as of this time.

IBM in fact suspects that a nation state is behind the attack (we’re going to bet monies on either Russia or North Korea) but wasn’t able to definitively say so. Officials are investigating.
