Grisly homicide stuns New York City as son, 48, is arrested for hacking his own mother to death with a meat cleaver in her apartment

QUEENS, New York — Queens is on edge today after learning that one of their own neighbours is dead this weekend after reportedly being hacked to death with a meat cleaver by her own son. According to the NYPD, David Gallicia, 48, has been charged with the 2nd degree murder of his mother Mrs Cabansag.

Police say that they found the body of Mrs Cabansag lifeless; hacked to death, and Gallacia oddly laying on top of his deceased mother when they arrived at her NYC apartment. Per dispatch reports, they received two separate 911 calls about an apparent unconscious woman.

Gallacia reportedly confessed to the killing once taken to the police station, whereas, he had previously been treated for severe stab wounds and other injuries — that are believed to have been self-inflicted. It remains unclear as to why he killed his own mother. An autopsy is underway to determine the entire cause of death.

Cabansag, 78, is believed to have been a survivor of COVID-19 as she had recently tested negative and had been covering at home.
