This police chief allegedly rigged his own freaking hiring

Connecticut probably didn’t see this one coming. According to local news reports, Bridgeport ‘s Police Chief Armando Perez is looking at some pretty serious freaking time behind bars if he’s convicted in a trial nobody saw coming.

Per documents, Perez is accused of working with city officials in what federal prosecutors say was an unheard of attempt to rig his own hiring for the top job. Apparently Perez and his co-conspirators rigged testing systems; committed wire fraud, and made it so that Perez didn’t have to have a Bachelor’s Degree during the hiring process.

According to prosecutors — he could face up to 30 years or more behind bars on numerous charges including at least two counts of wire fraud and tampering with a computer system.
