The Lowdown

Gazans are celebrating in the streets following reports that a ceasefire deal has been reached with Israel. The deal though only partial comes after 15 months of war and tens of thousands of deaths of innocent Gazans.

Reports say that the deal is set to begin 19 January and last for approximately 42 days. Officials on both sides of the aisle hope that the newly allotted time allows for further deals to release more hostages and indefinitely end the fighting.

97 hostages are expected to remain in custody of Hamas pending further ceasefire negotiations.
