Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is seeking to make the trial’s first big move. According to reports, Bragg is attempting to convince Justice Merchan that Trump should be held in contempt of court.

Trump’s trial is already getting off to a messy start. According to the latest in the case, Justice Merchan is being asked to hold Trump in contempt over social media posts he reportedly made over the weekend.
Many of the posts appear to violate a limited gag order imposed on the indicted former President. In that specific order, Trump was barred from bashing trial witnesses both on and offline. Trump per the request may also be on the hook for a $3,000 fine if he is ruled against in the matter.
He also was barred despite his posts from attacking Michael Cohen and adult film star Stormy Daniels. Over the weekend, Trump took to social media sharing a statement that has been debunked previously about Daniels.
In 2018, a statement purported to be from Daniels surfaced in the press where it was claimed that the two did not have sex among other things. Damiels later revealed that she was coerced against her will into writing the statement.
