Former top aide and re-election campaign staffer to Eric Adams dropped from campaign after passing reporter bag of cash

Another new development in the world of Eric Adams. According to reports, his former longtime aide Winnie Greco is out of his campaign after she attempted to illictly pass a bag of cash to a reporter.

The Lowdown

A former top aide and re-election campaign staffer to Eric Adams is now out of a job. According to reports,  Winnie Greco attempted to pass a bag of cash in a highly unusual handoff that was in a bag of potato chips. The bag eventually found its way from Greco on 13 August to a reporter from the City outlet per the New York Times.

The Times notes that the bizarre bag contained $100 in cash stuffed in a red envelope which was tucked inside of a bag of potato chips.   Reporter Katie Honan was the reporter Greco allegedly tried to pass the cash off too.

Honan on her part turned in the cash to her editors after attempts to give it back to Greco were reportedly failures.   City as an outlet is understood to have reported the bag of cash to NYC ‘s Department of Investigation.
