This time in Maine. According to police in Maine, a 34-year-old man is in jail today after apparently going on a terrifying murderous rampage against his loved ones. Police say that man has been identified as Joseph Eaton.
He has been charged with a total of four counts of murder in connection to the fatal shootings of his parents, 66-year-old David Eaton and 62-year-old Cynthia Eaton, inside the nearby home of their friends Robert Eger, 72, and Patricia Eger, 62, who were found dead in the barn on the property, Maine State Police said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The problem appeared to have started after he was released from prison and had been living with the Egers.
This tragedy occurred in Bowdoin Maine. Local police had responded to an incident shortly after 9:20 am local time on Tuesday. At the time officers weren’t fully understanding what had happened, however, bodies had already been discovered by a neighbour by this time. At the same time across town, a shooting was taking place about 25 miles away.
In a tweet, Maine Gov. Janet Mills said she completely was “shocked and deeply saddened” by Tuesday’s events.
“My thoughts are with the families, friends and loved ones of those impacted by this tragedy, and I am praying for the quick recovery of those who are hospitalized,” Mills said.
