At a new event for the Democratic Nat’l Committee, U.S President Joe Biden is now claiming that Democrats (despite having numerous opportunities in the past) are now ready to codify Roe v Wade into law. Codifying means that it would become law regardless of what a state or local government says about it which is likely if it were to happen to set off a litany of legal battles against the feds.
Biden made the comments in hopes that Democrats will retain control of the House and then subsequently gain control of the Senate. This has happened before though Democrats have not acted in the past on things like abortion and Roe v Wade.
. “The court got Roe right nearly 50 years ago and I believe the Congress should codify Roe, once and for all,” Biden said, per CNN.
