Twitter has finally announced that its long-awaited edit button is here but it will only be available to subscribers of Twitter blue. According to The Verge, the site will eventually launch it behind its paywall after beta tests and phases are complete. There is no indication that Twitter intends to make this a public feature at any point in the foreseeable future.
Any edited tweets will be marked as modified, and others will be able to click a button to see the original tweet and how it was changed, notes CNN.
Edited tweets will also see that they have a modified logo alongside them indicating to users that they were edited. The edit button has long been a source of contention considering right-wingers and Republicans are likely to gravely abuse this feature.
