The extraordinary journey of OSIRIS-REx  is coming to an end. After several years in space, the NASA powered exploration is headed back to earth with more than 2.1 ounces of space rock. The rock is expected to reveal further space secrets previously unknown to humans — particularly more information about how the solar system may have formed when it did.

OSIRIS is expected to return to earth in the Fall of 2023 and will deposit the rock samples into the Utah desert for scientists to study them. The arrival of the craft comes just a short time before additional explorations are set to take off for Space in humanity ‘s quest to prove if we are alone.

If all goes to plan the exploration is set to return to earth 24 September 2023.
