Mississippi — one of a handful of states that don’t have any formal security orders in place to help curb the Coronavirus may have contributred to the death of a beloved barber in the state. According to local reports (and there are quite a few conflicting ones). Eugene Thompson died just days after his 46th birthday.

His shops were closed as the quarantine first broke out across the country (although such was done by the decision of Eugene himself because there isn’t a stay-at-home-order in the area.)

“Quarantine yourself stay away from people…places.. or things…I felt a little [achy]… fever was a little high so I came to get checked,” Thompson wrote at the time. “Tapernation will be closed for the rest of the week…well deserved rest and relaxation..,” Thompson wrote on Facebook on March 17 with a picture of him in a mask.

WJTV reports that it does appear he continued to take house calls for his clients (which is hotly advised against across America at this time.).
