Buckingham Palace was locked down today, here’s what you need to know

God save the Queen, and this time, she was apparently not home (she’s in Scotland right now).  According to police,  a knife wielding attacker apparently tried to jump the palace gates Friday.  And in the attack, numerous police officers and at least two palace guards were severely injured and one suffered minor injuries.  Police say they’re not quite sure why the man tried to jump the palace gates, but,  people on social media have some pretty good assumptions.

“I was walking toward The Mall and St. James’s Park when I saw police rush down toward the palace in great numbers,” 25-year-old Nicole Kyle tells the BBC. “All we were told was that there’s been an incident.”
