In an overwhelming show of support, UN member nations voted on Thursday to formally demand a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all the remaining hostages, and unrestricted access so aid trucks can get into the territory.

On Thursday, UN member nations formally voted to demand a full ceasefire in Gaza among other demands as the war continues to drag on. The vote in the 193-member General Assembly was up with 149-12 with a total of 19 abstentions. The original resolution to call for the ceasefire was first drafted by Spain. During it all going down, Palestinian ambassador, Riyad Mansour, pleaded with UN members. “The actions you take today to stop the killing, displacement and the famine will determine how many more Palestinian children die a horrible death,” he said.
Experts have been crying foul for weeks that some 2m Palestinians will experience famine in the coming days if Israel does not lift its block on aid getting into the territory.
On Israel’s part both the IDF and the government of Benjamin Netanyahu both deny that Israel is using starvation as means of warfare inside Gaza strip.
