An infamous criminal who had his sentence commuted by Donald Trump has once again been arrested. According to federal prosecutors, Jonathan Braun, 41, has been arrested a fter a pattern of alleged violence, intimidation, and sexual misconduct.
The Lowdown
Braun of New York City had previously served two and a half years of his decade sentence for running a marijuana cartel. He was among those freed by Donald Trump on 20 January 2021.
According to prosecutors, it was his long string of recent arrests and trouble with the law that once again caught the attention of authorities. In one of those allegations, he is accused of shoving a 3-year-old child to the ground following an argument with the child’s father at a Shabbat dinner.
The judge presiding over his case Judge Kiyo A Matsumoto repeatedly on Wednesday at his arraignment referred to him as ‘erratic’ ‘violent’ and deeply alarming. In more ways than one the judge admitted that ‘somebody could really hurt here.’
Braun was also previously accused of running predatory cash advance businesses. In some of those cases, he ran business rates as high as 1,000% conning desperate small businesses along the way.
The Shabbat Dinner
Prosecutors allege that during a dinner held at his Nassau County home, Braun ‘punched’ a man during a heated argument, before shoving the man’s 3-year-old child to the ground causing red marks on his ‘back’ and substantial pain to his persons per court filings on the case.
But it gets worse. HHe is also accused of groping his live-in nanny, grabbing her breast while also masturbating in presence.
