According to investigators, the death of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa are both being investigated as suspicious. Initial reports claim there were no obvious signs of a gas leak as initially claimed.

New reports out in the deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Aakawa are out and they’re unusual. According to police, Hackman ‘s wife was found mummified and bloated by household staff who actually hadn’t seen either of the couple for weeks. In another twist, Hackman ‘s body was discovered in a separate room from which Arakawa was discovered (the family’s dog also was found dead.)
TMZ also notes that the detective who examined the scene noted several grim discoveries. Arakawa had ‘bloating in her face’ and her remains had begun the process of mummification in her hands and feet. Arakawa, 64, was first found on her right side in the bathroom near a black space heater. An orange prescription pill bottle was also found at the scene according to the report.
