Kaspersky is now banned in the U.S over allegations that the antivirus software is in bed with the Kremlin

Kaspersky the antivirus software is no longer in the U.S. According to reports, the software carries a ‘national security risk’ due to its ties to the Russian government.

The Lowdown

NBC News reports that the U.S. has banned Kaspersky software in the U.S. over claims that the Russian government has far too much influence over the company. Kaspersky makes antivirus software using the same name. NBC notes that users have one hundred calendar days to find a different software according to the ban.

U.S. officials maintain that Russia ‘has shown its willingness’ to exploit regional companies for its own gain including those that hold data on American citizens.
