Buckingham Palace has confirmed that 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth II has died after months of declining health and personal struggles. The Queen reportedly died at Balmoral rather than in London which means she will be taken back to London after some time.
According to a statement released by Buckingham Palace, she died surrounded by her most beloved family members into her final moments. King Charles and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral until tomorrow before they return to London.
The statement reads:
The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” the statement read. “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” the statement read. “The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
