Hepatitis C is making headlines this week over reports that numerous cases have popped up around the world with no real explanation yet as to why. The root of it also appears to be causing mysterious bouts of liver trouble among kids one of which is understood to have died at this time over the illness. Officials say the outbreaks first happened in multiple countries before making its way to the United States.
So what’s the deal?
According to information we could find online symptoms appear to vary and include diarrhea, vomiting, jaundice, abdominal pain, dark urine, and light-colored stools, CBS News reports. States from New York to as far as California are all investigating either confirmed cases or suspected cases of the mysterious virus.
Alabama, Illinois, and North Carolina were the first states to report cases, Today reports.
