Anyone with a shoppers conscious knows what a good discount store can get you depending on the day. But this holiday season, Americans might have a harder time hitting up their local TJ Maxx; Ross, or places like Marshalls. According to numerous popular brands, brands like Steve Madden; Under Armour, and Ralph Lauren are the first known brands who have confirmed that they will not be selling extra merch to the stores as direct-to-consumer demand is higher than ever before.
“We have reduced the amount that we’re selling to the third-party off-price channel,” Under Armour chief financial officer David Bergman said on an earnings call this month. “Those partners would like more product.”
Similar sentiments were heard across stores like Carter ‘s (baby clothes) and Ralph Lauren also admitted to CNN that it significantly reduced the number of clothes it is sending to discount chains.
