Despite controversial and typical aversion by both parties on the issue, the U.S Senate has come together to avert a crisis of epic proportions. With just hours to go before a shutdown was expected, the Senate announced that they’d reached a deal with Republicans to extend and raise the debt ceiling by nearly half-a-trillion bucks through December.

If that doesn’t seem like a long time that’s because it isn’t. It is nearly mid October which means a formal deal among other things must be reached by the American government in a matter of two months or less. The vote for the matter came to 50-48 which brought instant relief to much of America and Washington although the larger task now sits at hand.

We’ll be following this crises over the next two months or so as it continues to unfold. It is unclear if Republicans will cooperate in any way as December closes in.
