The Oscar Ceremony of course, ehum, couldn’t of gotten underway last night without a bit of controversy. Last night, Jimmy Kimmel opened up the ceremony with a direct-line reference to none other than Harvey Weinstein. But, that wasn’t the most interesting part of the opening bit itself. Of the three most famous accusers Ashley Judd; Annabella Sciorra, and Salma Hayek all appeared on stage shortly after the opening monologue.
They appeared together at the ceremony to show-off a video about gender equality and equal treatment in Hollywood, something, that post-Weinstein has been a hot-button issue. Hayek, the first to speak, had this to say about the controversial monologue certain to set off a few hairs among males in the industry.
“We salute those unstoppable spirits who kicked ass and broke through the biased perceptions against their gender, their race, and ethnicity to tell their stories.” Hayek said during the ceremony.
