Another setback as Americans await to get their food assistance turned back on. According to reports, SCOTUS issued a temporary order this weekend blocking a previous order that demanded SNAP funds be met and paid in full.
The Lowdown
The fight over food assistance in America continues. According to reports, the Supreme Court issued a temporary order against Friday’s order that ordered the Trump administration to pay full SNAP benefits to more than 42m American households. Government officials are arguing that they should not be required to spend more money than what they claim is available.
As a whole the news comes as some people including people in New York City have already begun receiving their full benefits. In the case of NYC, that is because Governor Hochul authorized state agencies to begin making the payments. More than a dozen states in total have already doled out benefits. Recipients are advised to check the telephone line for their respective benefit account.
