As expected Republicans have pushed through their gerrymandered congressional maps that all but guarantee five more House seats.  The move widely criticized as a blatant power grab now goes to Abbott for signing.

The Lowdown

Republicans in the state of Texas where they have a majority in government have officially made moves to make that majority even larger.  Over the weekend, Senate Republicans formally passed the proposed congressional map — that gives Republicans five more seats in the House. The next election to determine the battle for the House is next year during the mid-terms.

The GOP currently controls 25 of the state’s 38 total congressional districts.
