Wrongly deported man returned to US to face criminal charges

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is once again back in the United States though he is facing down the barrel of a legal conundrum. According to reports, Garcia has been charged in connection with an alleged illegal migrant smuggling ring.

The Lowdown

New developments in the case against the man wrongly deported by the Trump Administration. According to the Department of Justice, Garcia has been charged with two counts: conspiracy to unlawfully transport illegal aliens for financial gain, and unlawful transportation of illegal aliens for financial gain.

The indictment first appeared under seal back in May in Tennessee but was only uncovered on Friday. Bondi the Attorney General made the announcement.

The grand jury found that over the past nine years, Abrego Garcia has played a significant role in an alien smuggling ring,” Bondi said, per ABC News. “He was a smuggler of humans and children and women. He made over 100 trips, the grand jury found, smuggling people throughout our country,” she added.
