A stunning revelation in New York City tonight. According to prosecutors, John Woeltz, 37, has been arrested on numerous charges following the man’s brazen escape.

According to reports, John Woeltz was arrested on Friday night after a man he was allegedly holding hostage managed to escape from a Manhattan apartment.Huff Post notes that the man was allegedly threatened as was his family if he didn’t cough up his bitcoin password. He managed to escape and flag down a traffic cop nearby the scene of the crime.
Woeltz was arraigned on Saturday on numerous charges according to the case against him and they include: kidnapping, assault, unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of a firearm.
The outlet also notes that the 28-year-old victim has first come to the area in early May from Italy. Prosecutors noted in emails seen by the outlet that the man had been abducted on 6 May.
