The world mourns today with the loss of Pope Francis, 88, who died on Monday morning just a short while after getting discharged from the hospital following a 38-day stay.

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis, 88, passed away after suffering a cerebral stroke. The cause of death was revealed by the Vatican’s health department just hours after his death on Monday morning. Francis had long suffered from lung disease and had one of his lungs removed as a younger man.
With the death of Francis now comes a series of rites and rituals as the Vatican seeks to elect the next Pope. While many names appear to be going around there is no clear successor yet.
