OpenAI rejects Elon Musk led bid to buy company says AI firm is *not* for sale

On Friday, AI firm OpenAI formally rejected Elon Musk’s effort to buy the company. Musk had attempted to gather a bevy of people hoping to buy the company for $97.4B.

The Lowdown

Elon Musk’s longshot effort to buy OpenAI out from under Sam Altman has been rejected. According to posts on X, Altman declined the billions offered for the company preferring to keep things as they are.

“OpenAI is not for sale, and the board has unanimously rejected Mr Musk’s latest attempt to disrupt his competition. Any potential reorganization of OpenAI will strengthen our nonprofit and its mission to ensure AGI benefits all of humanity,” OpenAI said on X.
