For the first time, the American federal government is attempting to exert control over curriculum in classrooms. Control that includes so-called ‘patriotic classroom education.’

The Lowdown

According to a pair of EOs signed on Wednesday, Donald Trump is moving to exert federal control over school curriculum in America. ABC News reports that one of those proposed changes includes suspending funding for schools that teach topics related to: gender, sex, politics, or race.

The other order calls on agencies to expand school choice through controversial voucher programs.

Both orders also instruct the Secretary of Education (not yet confirmed) to spend the next 90 days ‘ending indoctrination in K-12 schools.) In that role, Linda McMahon is nominated to be the next Secretary though no confirmation hearing is scheduled at this time.

It “prohibits federal funding of the indoctrination of children which includes radical gender ideology and critical race theory in the classroom,” the Hill explains.
