Shocking but expected news in Oregon and in Washington State this evening. According to reports, ballot boxes in Portland and in Vancouver were both set ablaze in the early hours of Monday morning.
The Lowdown
According to KATU, a ballot box in downtown Portland was set ablaze overnight followed by a second ballot box also destroyed in nearby Vancouver Washington.
Both mark the first known instances of such election violence as America battles to fend off Donald Trump ‘s brand of totalitarianism. KATU notes that in Vancouver a suspicious device was found near the ballot box at Fisher ‘s Landing Transit Center. If you turned in ballots at a drop box location near this transit center in the past day and a half, you may need to go get a new ballot as hundreds of them were destroyed according to officials.
In the Portland incident, the AP notes that the fire was ablaze shortly after 3:30 am when local firefighters received the call.
