Spurred by a triple stabbing at a dance class, far-right charged violence continues to spread to parts of the UK with no signs of slowing.
The Lowdown
According to initial reports, the problem began after a stabbing earlier this week that left three girls dead and many more severely wounded. In response to the crime, far-right individuals and their followers targeted a hotel understood to be housing migrants in the country.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Starmer vowed a crackdown on those seen rioting during a standoff with police in the town of Rotherham. In Rotherham, violence escalated due in part to the fact that vandals were breaking into a nearby Holiday Inn Express.
Referring to the violence as ‘violent thuggery’ Starmer’s issues may be a far cry from over as much of the violence continues to spread in nearby areas. The AP reports that at least 10 poliice officers in the city of Rothham were severely injured during the riot with at least one knocked unconscious.
