Dear friends,

America is at a turning point.  Parts of America argue that America was once great, and now it is no longer and must be returned to its previous state to be great. What they’re not telling you is that during this time the country was only great for one demographic rather than all demographics.

We are with her because we want our future daughters to be prideful confident members of society living their lives to the fullest.

We are with her because we want women to have their rights including their reproductive and related rights.

We are with her because we want Black people to have an equal seat at the table. By nature of status, that starts with someone at the top.

We are with her because we want our Asian friends and loved ones to feel safe walking down the streets of New York City and other places.

We are with her because it’s overdue that American politics get completely turned on its head with its first woman President. America has never had a woman leader before nor the wisdom many women would bring to the position including VP Harris.

We are with her because it is time for serious change. The American people must be heard the division and awful rhetoric is so old. The government works for the people not the other way around.

We are with her because we want our future daughters to grow up independent successful future women that are worth more than what is between their legs according to the far-right.

With the ascension of Vice President Kamala Harris as the presumptive Democratic nominee for President (the delegates will ultimately decide) the U.S. has a chance to make America great for all rather than a select few.   America was never great for all and it is a sickening lie on the right that others are claiming otherwise.

When they argue ‘Make America Great Again’ it isn’t entirely because they want to return things to how they were. The core of this demographic chooses to follow the most extreme areas of this catchphrase.  What they’re telling America is that during this time America was great because only one demographic ruled them all.

Because if it wasn’t about control and power and ‘ruling them all’ why would their catchphrase not be ‘Let’s Make America Great’ or something of that nature instead of again? Because everybody knows that  America’s dark past from this period included:

  • Wars on women
  • Women weren’t allowed to divorce their husbands. Republicans are currently trying to bring back no-fault divorce.  This would bar women from leaving marriages they are no longer happy to be in.  Back in the day, men had all of the control when it came to marriage and divorce.
  • The LGBTQ+ community did not exist except in the shadows.
  • Women weren’t allowed to open their bank accounts or related until about 1974 thanks to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
  • On 21 March 1981 a Black man named Michael  Donald became the last known recorded lynching in the United States.

These are just some of the dozens of examples arguing against the claim that ‘America was great.’ No, it was not it was great for a select few and now America has been given a choice: to proceed forward into unchartered territory or to proceed with a candidate that has everyone in mind rather than those buying their way through Washington.

So America we must ask you, when was your country ever great for everyone?

Remember folks much of the world has already seen what is threatening to knock on America’s door and it has not ended well for most countries that have seen it.   In a world where Project 2025 exists; people want to take rights away from young girls and women,  in a world where innocent people who may be Black or members of the LGBTQ+ community face violent threats and harm — the future of America couldn’t look anymore bleak.

Vice President Kamala Harris can win this.  There is work to be done especially about her past as a prosecutor, however, the choice between prosecutor and dictator-like felon couldn’t be anymore clearer.

Cheers,

The Collective
