A fascinating discovery in Rome this week as archeologists have unearthed what appears to be a palace pre-dating the Vatican and where popes of the time sought housing.
The Lowdown
According to CNN, researchers outside the Archbasilica of St John Lateran managed to unearth what are being called complex structures that appear to have been associated with a Papal palace. The palace would’ve housed Popes at the time pre-dating their formal arrival inside the Vatican.
In perhaps the most fascinating part of the find, the structures reportedly date back to the 4th during the reign of Emperor Constantine.
