The Lowdown

According to The Guardian, amid the ongoing war in Gaza and criticism at home of Benjamin Netanyahu Ultra-Orthodox Jews are no longer able to be exempt from mandatory military service. The move in some circles may bring further criticism to Netanyahu who is already suffering due to internal fighting and turmoil amongst his war cabinet.

It is the latest act by Israel as it struggles to maintain support for its invasion and war in Gaza some of which has already spawned an arrest warrant for several Israeli officials issued by the International Criminal Court on allegations of heartbreaking war crimes in Palestine.
