It’s officially June now so that means Donald Trump’s punishment in the historic hush-money trial is coming. In July, Trump is expected to be sentenced on 34 felony counts stemming from the headline-grabbing case.
The Lowdown
Trump’s sentencing is coming quickly. According to the case, Judge Merchan has ordered his sentencing on 11 July, just a matter of days before the Republican National Convention. It is still unclear if Trump would face any jail time, however, he would do so upstate for a sentence of more than one year and on the other end of a sentence longer than one year would do so in upstate New York.
In another possible scenario, Judge Merchan could order Trump to stay inside his home for the duration of house arrest thereby rendering him unable to be on the campaign trail. Violating house arrest of course would lead to even further potential legal consequences for Trump although he has largely evaded legal consequences up to this point.
