NYC has recorded its first two Monkeypox related deaths

Monkeypox has officially claimed the lives of its first New York City residents according to the local health department. According to officials, the virus now called MPV, killed two New Yorkers recently although no further information was available at the time of publication as to what happened.

“We are deeply saddened by the two reported deaths and our hearts go out to the individuals’ loved ones and community. Every effort will be made to prevent additional suffering from this virus through continued community engagement, information-sharing, and vaccination,” the announcement reads according to NBC New York.
