And she’s a goner. Sherri Papini, aka the Gone Girl hoaxster, is going to jail for 18 months for her rather elaborate kidnapping hoax. The case initially captivated the nation as it gained comparisons to that of the shocking film Gone Girl. Papini infamously faked her own kidnapping back in 2016.
Papini famously claimed to have been kidnapped by two Hispanic women at the time after having gone for a jog near her California home. Instead she disappeared to an ex-boyfriend’s house where she camped out for weeks while convincing the public she was actually in danger.
