Mexico ‘s President President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador previously ordered an inquiry into the 2014 disappearance of 43 students from the region. At the time it was unknown what happened to the children, however, a new report from Mexico ‘s truth commission has found that locals need to look no further than the Mexican government. The commission ‘s report has declared that the Mexican government back in 2014 ordered the abduction and then murder of 43 students. The incident in question involves the disappearance of students from Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers’ College.
It has since been called a ‘state crime’ that now must be addressed following the commission’s report. According to previously published reports, the students were initially believed to have been killed by gang members after being handed over during a police stop though they were misidentified by that gang and killed. However that wasn’t entirely the case as the story goes.
Instead the government of Enrique Nieto the country’s then President had its own criminal connection to the gang(s) that killed the 43 students and then helped cover it up. It is alleged that the government altered crime scenes; photographs, and official reports to wipe all links between itself the gang and the children involved.
An additional report by the AFP notes that Pieto ‘s government may have had links to gangs that particularly were moving heroin into Chicago at the time.
