Sri Lanka is now in flames and its government is resigning in droves against the backdrop of mass protests over the soaring cost of living in the country. According to the office of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Rajapaksa has resigned after protesters stormed the Presidential palace in which he resided in at the time. It is the latest example of a poorly behaved government official running from answering for their magnificent mismanagement of an entire economy.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also agreed to quit, the BBC reports. His home however was set on fire by angry protesters demanding both he and the President leave so a new era can be ushered in for Sri Lanka.
