Billionaire Elon Musk has announced that he in fact will not purchase Twitter after all. According to the controversial Tesla and SpaceX head, he maintains that Twitter has not been forthcoming about the true number of fake and phoney accounts on the site. Such was a sticking point a few weeks ago when Musk had reportedly questioned the company about the true extent of spam users.

Twitter, however, is apparently trying to fight back already. Multiple reports suggest that Twitter execs and shareholders are keen to save the deal and will explore all possible options. It is unclear if Musk would even go for that as he has been hinting that the deal is off the table for a while. Critics have long said that Musk never intended to buy the site and instead used it as means to boost his bottom line.

In the bombshell letter announcing the remove, Musk made the following comments.

‘Twitter has not complied with its contractual obligations. For nearly two months, Mr. Musk has sought the data and information necessary to ‘make an independent assessment of the prevalence of fake or spam accounts on Twitter’s platform.’
