Members of the far-right group The Proud Boys including ordinary right-wing supporters of Donald Trump all descended upon Washington D.C over the weekend. Initially, they claimed that their arrivals and protests would be peaceful protests against what they falsely claimed was a stolen election —- instead said protests almost immediately descended into violent chaos.
According to Vox, the protests began fairly peaceful during mid-day all weekend but then descended into chaos after hours. Police reports show that at least 20 people were arrested; four were violently stabbed, a reporter was reportedly stabbed in the ear, and at least four officers were injured.
Violent Trump supporters showed up to the march wielding batons and weapons apparently ready for action according to multiple witnesses. Most of the protests were contained within the are around the WH.
