Because like with most things in America at this time, most things are rightfully questioned. According to reports, the CDC is now under fire amid claims that the agency is fabricating the death toll from the novel Coronavirus.

It gets pretty hairy from this point on. Initially, the CDC instructed hospitals and the like to assign COVID-19 as the cause of death even if it was just suspected rather than fully proven. This marked the beginning of what would be their claims that millions would die from the virus, although that may have been a dramatic overstatement.

Under the policy of the CDC, there are actually no autopsies required.
