Trans people are facing an unprecedented new wave of legislation and directives, that, could potentially put them in harms way thanks to Donald Trump. According to the New York Times, a memo obtained by the newspaper shows that Trump wants to effectively erase trans-people legally in definition [and probably quite literally].
It’s worth noting that directives that have legally and lawfully allowed trans-people to co-exist, have, protected them from potentially horrific situations that could end or harm their lives. But, per the memo, gender “must be defined by the genitals in which you were given at birth”.
Not surprisingly, LGBTQ advocates have already pounced on the news. Most, uh, have cited that this is pure discrimination and “entirely religiously based”. While others fear that attacks on the general gay population await, if, something isn’t done to stop Trump.
